CoolTone™ can be a simple, convenient, and effective technique to gain a firmer, more toned physique without downtime or surgery. Each treatment is performed in-office and only takes approximately 30 minutes per area. Available at our San Jose and Sacramento-area practice, this FDA-approved body contouring treatment can be the perfect complement to non-invasive fat reduction with CoolSculpting®.

How Does CoolTone™ Work?

The MMS technology utilized by CoolTone™ delivers magnetic pulses to the deeper muscle layers, which catalyze contraction of the body’s muscle fibers. These involuntary muscle contractions can strengthen, firm, and tone the area(s) of treatment.

Since the muscles are naturally good conductors of the magnetic field emitted by the CoolTone™ system, this treatment has been proven to be highly effective in conditioning the abdominal muscles, as well as muscles in the thighs or buttocks.

Am I a Good Candidate for CoolTone™?

CoolTone™ is usually most successful for active individuals who are near their ideal weight and who have a healthy body mass index (BMI). Like all cosmetic and medical procedures, there are certain factors that indicate CoolTone™ may not be the best treatment option for all patients. These contraindications include those who use hearing aids, cochlear implants, implanted defibrillators or neurostimulators, or other metal/ electronic implants. During your appointment, our experienced aesthetic professionals or board-certified plastic surgeons will review your medical history to help determine whether you are a good candidate for CoolTone™.

Combining CoolTone™ and CoolSculpting®

Muscle toning can typically highlight the leaner aesthetic achieved with fat reduction, which is why patients often attain maximal improvement with a dual CoolTone™ and CoolSculpting® treatment plan.

Developed by the same manufacturers, this muscle toning technology was specially formulated to complement the results of CoolSculpting®.

While CoolSculpting® can address pockets of fat around the body, the controlled-cooling treatment cannot strengthen or firm the muscle layer. CoolTone™ was designed to make up for the limitations of CoolSculpting® by creating more definition and tone in the treated area(s). In this way, the two body contouring procedures work together to comprehensively sculpt the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs for an overall fitter physique.

What is Treatment With CoolTone™ Like?

CoolTone™ is among our non-surgical treatments that do not require incisions, anesthesia, or recovery time. The procedure is conveniently performed in the treatment rooms of our medical spa, where CoolTone™ patients can relax in their own private rooms with a movie and a warm blanket. You will also have the option to order from our VIP menu of snacks, HydraFacial® treatments, and other medical-grade skincare services during the length of your CoolTone™ session. While the average treatment time for CoolTone™ is 30 minutes, many patients opt to treat more than one area during their appointment.

For optimal results, we recommend a series of four to six CoolTone™ sessions with one to two treatments performed per week. Having your CoolTone™ procedures performed in close succession to each other can often enhance the quality of the results.

When Will I See My CoolTone™ Results?

It typically takes four to six CoolTone™ treatments to see a noticeable difference in the targeted area(s). That said, many patients report feeling more strength in their core after just one appointment. Once you finish all of the sessions in your treatment plan, additional CoolTone™ treatments can be pursued as necessary to enhance or maintain your results. CoolTone™ memberships are also available at our practice to make it easier for you to preserve the outcome.

Are There Any CoolTone™ Side Effects?

While side effects occur infrequently, CoolTone™ may cause redness, swelling, temporary muscle spasms, mild cramping, or muscle aches. Should they occur, these reactions can be controlled well with over-the-counter pain medication. Always be sure to select a qualified aesthetic provider to perform your CoolTone™ treatment in order to minimize the possibility of side effects and other negative reactions. We will thoroughly evaluate your candidacy for CoolTone™ before your treatment to help ensure the highest levels of patient safety.

Does CoolTone™ Hurt?

During treatment, patients commonly report a warm sensation as they feel their muscles contract. This feeling is described as easily tolerable and should dissipate naturally after a few minutes. Mild muscle cramping after CoolTone™ is rare, but a possible effect of treatment.

 Treat to Complete

The most visible and effective results are often achieved when patients complete a CoolTone™ treatment plan consisting of multiple sessions. As touch-up treatments are often necessary to preserve the toned and well-defined contours of your body, Liu Plastic Surgery offers a membership plan to make ongoing maintenance more convenient and cost-effective for CoolTone™ patients.

Those who pursue treatment can also earn BrilliantDistinctions® rewards that can help them save on Allergan® products and services, such as BOTOX® Cosmetic. Dr. Jerome Liu and Dr. Tom Liu generally recommend four to six CoolTone™ treatments to achieve a comprehensive outcome.
