Laser and fractional resurfacing delivers energy to the skin in a precise and controlled manner that induces the formation and deposition of collagen. These changes in the skin can improve wrinkles, complexion, scars, porosity, and pigmentation in a way that alleviates the signs of facial aging.
Fractional resurfacing of the skin can:
Fractional resurfacing of the face only needs to be performed once. The recovery ranges from 3-7 days. During the recovery period, the face can be red and slightly raw, similar to a very bad sunburn. To maintain the results, patients can choose to have an annual “touch up,” to keep the skin on the face looking youthful.
Photofacial, also known as intense pulsed light (IPL), restores skin health and alleviates sun damage and age related changes of the skin. A photofacial uses a broad spectrum of light that targets pigmented and vascular lesions. Photofacials can effectively treat:
The number of treatments depends on the patient and the indications for treatment. Photofacial treatments are very well tolerated and patients can return to work immediately following treatment. Sides effects are few, with some patients experiencing temporary redness for a few hours after treatment.
Laser hair reduction works by a concept known as selective photothermolysis. The laser energy targets the pigment in the hair follicles in the active growth phase. Absorption of this energy results in damage or destruction of the active hair follicles. Because not all hair follicles are in the active phase at the same time, multiple treatments (4 – 6) are usually required to achieve sustained hair reduction. Laser hair reduction is very safe and carries a high degree of satisfaction. Side effects are few with minor side effects similar to mild sunburn.
